5 days - 4 nights

For centuries, the traditional cities of Vientiane and Luang Prabang have been guarding witnesses to an important historical and cultural era for Southeast Asia.

Day 01: Arrival in Vientiane.
Transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Vientiane.

Day 02: Vientiane - full day city tour.
In the morning we visit Vientiane's landmark, the Pratuxai, a structure modeled on the Arc de Triumphe in Paris. We visit the magnificent temple complexes and stupas. Pha That Luang - the "Great Sacred Stupa", was built by the revered King Setthatirat in the mid-16th century when he moved the capital of Lane-Xang from Luang Prabang to Vientiane. Wat Pha Keo housed the “Holy Emerald Buddha” until 1797, before the Siamese general Chakri, later King Rama I, brought him to Bangkok, where he is now venerated in Wat Phra Keo as the highest shrine in Thailand. Wat Si Saket (built in 1818) is the oldest temple complex preserved in its original form. There are numerous frescoes and a total of 6,840 Buddha figures in this temple complex.
In the afternoon we drive to Ban Tha Ngon, an idyllic place on the Nam Ngum River. In floating Lao restaurants, the fish - just caught from the river - are prepared fresh and delicious. We will enjoy them during a boat tour on a flatboat. Overnight in Vientiane.

Day 03: Flight Vientiane - Luang Prabang - city tour.

Overnight stay in Luang Prabang.

Day 04: Excursion in Luang Prabang to the caves of Pak Ou.
After breakfast, a short ride with a “Samlor”, the typical three-wheeled motor taxi, to the Mekong. We take the boat to the famous caves of Pak Ou, at the mouth of the river of the same name. The two mystical caves Tham Thing and Tham Phum have been used as places of worship since ancient times and are home to thousands of Buddha statues, from tiny finger-length figures to life-sized figures.
