Day 01: Arrival in Luang Prabang. Transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon we start the city tour described the next day. Bed and breakfast.

Day 02: Luang Prabang – city tour.
After breakfast we visit the magnificent temple complexes of the first capital of Lane-Xang, which was founded in 1353 by the “conqueror Fa Gnum”. Numerous royal and religious items can be viewed. The holiest Buddha figure in all of Laos - the Pha Pabang - a gold statue that was built in the 1st century. after Ch. was cast in Sri Lanka, has its final place of honor here. The Wat Xieng Thong, “Golden City Temple”, built in 1560 by King Setthatirat, is the most impressive example of the magnificent, classical temple architecture of the once powerful kingdom. Numerous artistically valuable Buddha figures from the 16th century, mosaics and frescoes, including a chapel with a reclining Buddha and one with a very revered footprint, are particularly worth mentioning. The magnificent death chariot of King Sisavang Vong (d. 1959) can also be seen. In Wat Visun we visit the largest Buddha statue in Laos and the That Phatum, also known as the “Watermelon Stupa”. In the late afternoon, at the end of this interesting day in Luang Prabang, we climb Wat Phusi, from whose terrace you have a wonderful view can enjoy the city, the surrounding mountains and the Mekong. Day 03: Luang Prabang – city tour – Pak Ou caves.
After breakfast we drive through the romantic river landscape. The boat takes you to the famous caves of Pak Ou. The two mystical caves, Tham Thing and Tham Phum, have been used as places of worship since ancient times and are home to hundreds of Buddha statues, from finger-length tiny ones to life-sized statues. Then visit the famous rice wine distillery in Bang San Hai. Overnight in Luang Prabang.


Day 04: Luang Prabang – Vang Vieng.
After breakfast, drive through a scenic mountain landscape to Vang Vieng. The Nam Ngum Lake in its green river valley is dammed into an enormous lake, surrounded by impressive mountain formations. Overnight in Vang Vieng.

Day 05: Visit to Vang Vieng – drive from Vang Vieng to Vientiane.
Today we visit Vang Vieng and the beautiful surroundings, where we see Hmong Hilltribe villages and various monasteries from the 16th and 17th centuries. We especially visit the Tham Chang Cave (Elephant Cave). We take a local tuk tuk to Phoukham Cave and then swim in the clear lagoon near the cave. In the afternoon we reach Vientiane, the capital of Laos. It is located 160 km south of Vang Vieng and can be reached in 2 hours. It is the economic, political and cultural center of the country. Overnight in Vientiane.





Day 06: Full-day sightseeing of Vientiane – with a German-speaking guide.
In the morning we visit Vientiane's landmark, the Pratuxai, a structure modeled on the Arc de Triumphe in Paris. We experience the importance of religion (Buddhism and intensive animism) today when we visit the magnificent temple complexes and stupas. Pha That Luang - the “Great, Holy Stupa” was built by the still highly revered King Setthatirat in the mid-16th century when he moved the capital of Lane-Xang from Luang Prabang to Vientiane. The king, whose monument stands in front of the sanctuary - a symbol of the religion and sovereignty of Laos - had it built on the spot where, according to legend, it was already in the 3rd century. v. Ch. a stupa with a breastbone of Buddha stood. Wat Pha Keo housed the “Holy Emerald Buddha” until 1797, before the Siamese general Chakri, later King Rama I, brought him to Bangkok, where he is now venerated in Wat Phra Keo as the highest shrine in Thailand. Wat Si Saket (built in 1818) is the oldest temple complex preserved in its original form. There are numerous frescoes and a total of 6,840 Buddha figures in this temple complex.
In the afternoon we drive to Ban Tha Ngon. In floating Lao restaurants, the fish - just caught from the river - are prepared fresh and delicious. On a flatboat you will enjoy this during a boat tour. Overnight in Vientiane.


 
Day 07: Flight: Vientiane – Pakse. Boloven plateau. Elephant safari.
Today we take a trip to the Boloven Plateau, where you will visit the coffee and tea plantations of the mountain tribes. Enjoy a freshly brewed coffee in one of the villages of Khmu or Ta Oy! Afterwards, visit the Tad Fane and Pha Suam waterfalls. We also explore the beautiful landscape on a safari on the backs of elephants. In Pakse we take a short city tour through the city founded by the French in 1905, today the capital of Champanssak Province, the southernmost province of Laos, which borders Thailand and Cambodia and Vietnam borders. Overnight in Pakse.

Day 08: Boat trip on the Mekong to Champanssak & Done Khong.
Motorboat trip south for 1 ½ hours through the romantic river landscape of the Mekong. We disembark in the old royal city of Champassak and visit the impressive Wat Phu temple complex on the hill (a world heritage site). After visiting Wat Phu, which, although some parts remain in ruins, still retains its former splendor, we continue our journey by car. The islands in the Mekong are becoming more and more numerous - there are said to be around 4,000 islands. In the late afternoon we reach Done Khong, the largest island in the Mekong, today's destination on our Laos tour. Overnight in Done Khong.

 
Day 09: Done Khong - Ban Khone - Khonephapheng Waterfalls. Today is for rest and relaxation in the fantastic and unique world of the “Four Thousand Islands”. Take a speedboat along the river - the Mekong is 11 km wide in places - through the waterways between the islands to Ban Khone, where you can see the famous Sopamith waterfall and, with a bit of luck, freshwater dolphins in the Mekong lagoon. Continuing on, you will eventually reach the rapids and waterfalls of Khonephapheng. We return to Done Khong by boat. Overnight in Done Khong.

Day 10: Done Khong – drive to the Thai border. In the morning we drive to the Thai border Chon Mekm. Transfer to Ubon Ratchathani Airport.
