Day 01: Arrival in Yangon. Day at leisure.
You will be picked up in Yangon with your name tag. Transfer to the booked hotel.
Day 02: City tour of Yangon.
Today we will show you the sights of the Burmese capital, which has already made a name for itself as the “garden city of Southeast Asia” with its numerous green spaces and lakes: We will take you to the most famous Buddhist pagodas, you will roam the picturesque old town district with the German-speaking tour guide old post office.
Shortly before sunset, the world-famous golden Shwedagon Pagoda, set with diamonds, rubies, emeralds and sapphires, shines and is a true treasure chest. A single fascination! Although the exact year of construction is not known, it is known that this pagoda, which houses the relics of Buddha, was already known in the 11th century. Overnight in Yangon.
Day 03: Yangon - Bago (Pegu) - Kyaikhtiyo. The “Golden Rock”.
Today you drive through the delta area and across the Sittang River to Kyaikhtiyo. The pilgrimage path begins from the town of Kinpun to the pagoda on the famous Golden Rock, around 10 kilometers away and at an altitude of 1200 meters. We cover the first part with a truck, the rest of the way we have to walk (approx. 1 hour). A simple but romantic and beautifully located hotel awaits you at the summit. First visit to the Golden Rock in the soft light of the afternoon. Overnight stay on the mountain.
Day 04: Kyaikhtiyo – Bago – Yangon.
Early morning departure for the return hike and truck transport to Kinpun and overland back to Bago. The 114-meter-high Shemawdaw Pagoda shines at us from afar with its golden dome, where a 30-meter-high Buddha figure was erected over 2 Buddha hairs 1000 years ago. Then we'll see those in the 15th century. ordination hall was built, where monks are still ordained. We then drive to the Shewthalyaung Pagoda with its 55 m long and 16 m high Buddha figure. This figure represents the transition of Buddha into the stage of Nirvana. After visiting the Kyaikpun Pagoda and the Bayint Naung Palace, we drive back to Yangon, where we arrive in the late afternoon. Overnight stay at the booked hotel in Yangon.
Day 05: Transfer to the airport - Flight: Yangon – Bangkok, or other destination.
